TACE were appointed via Gardiner & Theobald on this £2.8m, multi-level refurbishment for Manchester Metropolitan University.
The scheme was part of the university’s project to consolidate several of its libraries previously spread across several campuses, to just one site. To accommodate these relocations Sir Kenneth Green Library added a second entrance to allow daytime entrance from an adjoining university coffee bar, with the original reception area and helpdesk being redesigned
Throughout the library extra social learning spaces were created as well as several ‘laptop bar’ areas.
TACE incorporated low energy lighting systems with programmable dimming controls throughout the building and high efficiency ASHP’ in order to improve the efficiency of the project.
