Flintshire County Council developed an ex-steelworks site into a new care and reablement service facility for children and young adults (ages 8-19) with autistic spectrum conditions (ASD).
The facility has two residential blocks that have been designed and developed specifically to meet the needs of the occupants. The blocks provide communal flats which can accommodate up to 7 people, with communal living and kitchen spaces.
There are also semi-independent flats for those wanting to transition into greater independence.
On-site facilities also include a sensory suite, cinema, music room, café, library, teaching block, sports and fitness facilities and specialist arts and crafts areas.
Within the scheme TACE utilised an ASHP system and 80m2 of photovoltaic panels to help the client improve the buildings efficiency.
