The King’s College Champion Hill project aimed to sensitively refurbish the Victorian Plantanes House, as well as replace two 1960s buildings and construct four new builds in their place. Combined, the new buildings now provide 740 high quality student rooms.
As well as providing much needed living quarters, the project aimed to drastically improve on its sustainability and in order to do so features heat recovery ventilation, photovoltaic arrays, a district heating system led by CHP engine, high insulation levels and high levels of air-tightness significantly reducing heating energy.
