£15,000,000
Developed as part of Cheshire East Council’s regeneration of Crewe town centre, the Lifestyle Centre comprises of an eight-lane, 25 metre pool, plus a large teaching pool, sports courts, state-of-the-art fitness suites, new library facilities, treatment rooms and children and adult social care services.
Under the Council’s ‘Sustainable Community Strategy’ the aim of the building was to unite several services under one roof, improving efficiencies and ensuring that rather than simply being a set of co-located services, each service was an integral part of the whole Lifestyle Centre offer.
Our design for the centre utilised photovoltaic panels and CHP units to allow the scheme to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ status. The efficiency of the centre has also provided a 20% improvement on the Part L2A 2010 minimum.
A key driver of the project was engagement with both stakeholders and the community from pre-construction onwards. This collaborative approach and high level of community engagement has led to the project winning several awards, including .
- Cheshire, Wirral & Warrington Sub-Regional Project of the Year – North West Regional Construction Awards 2017
- Value Award – North West Regional Construction Awards 2017
- Community Benefit Award – RICS Awards 2017
- Best Public Service Building – Local Authorities Building Control Awards 2017
