As part of their move to academy status, Birkenhead High School refurbished their existing buildings, whilst also adding new accommodation.
Sensitive refurbishment was required in order to keep in historical character of the school whilst allowing its students to benefit from state-of-the-are facilities.
The project saw the nursery, infant and junior school modernised and linked together by a new 3-storey building which also provided a library, ICT facilities an assembly hall and new classrooms.
The secondary school benefited from a new multi-functional central space that accommodates a theatre, dining room, study area, cafe and a new hall.
The project achieved BREEAM ‘Very Good’ and TACE implemented ASHP’s and 10% renewable energy into the design.
